Pastry/Bakery Assistant
Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa Resort is seeking motivated candidates to join our dynamic Back of House team at Izanami dining. Presently, we are hiring a Part-Time Pastry/Bakery Assistant to work flexible daytime and evening shifts on weekdays and weekends.
We are looking for a pastry/bakery assistant chef that is able to keep up with the demand of our sales. You will be expected to make desserts on a regular basis to reach demand along with baking any fresh goods based on our menu.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a pastry restaurant environment is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong communication skills
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Willingness to adjust to our expanding and continuously changing menus.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Navigating tight or uneven spaces: Our setting includes various room layouts and outdoor decks that may involve stairs, thresholds, and narrow walkways. Team members must move confidently and cautiously in these areas.
Physical Demands of the Position:
- Extended periods of standing and walking: Managers are expected to remain on their feet and in motion for up to 8–10 hours per shift, navigating the dining room, patio, and other service areas with ease and efficiency.
- Carrying and lifting: Must be able to lift, carry, and balance trays, beverage buckets, and bus tubs weighing up to 35 pounds safely.
- Reaching, bending, and stooping: Frequent reaching across tables, bending to retrieve items, and stooping to reset or clean as needed are required.
- Navigating tight or uneven spaces: Our setting includes various room layouts and outdoor decks that may involve stairs, thresholds, and narrow walkways. Team members must move confidently and cautiously in these areas.

FOH Host (FT)
Ten Thousand Waves is seeking a dedicated and hospitable FOH Host to join our team. As a Host, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued from the moment they arrive. You will manage reservations, coordinate with the dining team, and maintain a warm, professional demeanor throughout their visit.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere upon arrival.
- Demonstrate omotenashi (Japanese hospitality) with guests arriving and departing the restaurant.
- Manage reservations using OpenTable, ensuring accurate seating arrangements.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Reset tables and maintain a clean and inviting dining environment.
- Assist with seating guests efficiently.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and address concerns promptly and professionally.
- Stay on your feet for extended periods to provide attentive service and support the restaurant where needed.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by managers to support the team and enhance the guest experience.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a host or customer service role preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with OpenTable or similar reservation systems is a plus.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- A professional and friendly demeanor, ensuring guests feel valued.
