Shiatsu (literally 'finger pressure') has its roots in traditional Anma massage. Not yet widely known in the US, Anma is the form of massage most often experienced in Japan. Shiatsu-do, as practiced at Ten Thousand Waves, is taught by Yoshi Nakano Sensei and incorporates traditional Anma with diagnosis of the acupuncture meridians. The therapist addresses the underlying causes of energy imbalances and physical discomfort.
It is done without oil on a floor mat in the beautiful Pagodas. Loose clothing is worn by the guest during the treatment.
